Conxemar 2024
Canada will once again have a remarkable delegation at the Frozen Fish and Seafood Trade Show (Conxemar) in Vigo, October 1-3, 2024, with the participation of the Embassy of Canada to Spain, the Atlantic Association of Food and Beverage Processing Companies and the provincial governments of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The companies will present some of the best fish and shellfish, including Canadian lobster, both live and frozen, snow crab, northern shrimp, Atlantic pollock, halibut, redfish and mussels, to name a few. These products are characterized by their high quality and their elaboration process based on innovative techniques.
Conxemar represents a key event for Canadian companies interested in developing their trade, investment and developing trade, investment and innovation relations with Spain and Europe, both in the fisheries and Europe, both in the fishing, processing and aquaculture sectors.
Relations between Spain and Canada have great potential for growth. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement between the EU and Canada (CETA), ratified by Spain in 2017, has provided a notable boost to trade relations, especially in the agri-food sector, where the vast majority of tariffs have been eliminated. Since the entry into force of the agreement, EU tariff lines for fish and seafood are almost entirely duty-free. Simplification of border procedures and increased access to suppliers are other measures included in the agreement. This framework will undoubtedly facilitate new business opportunities and give an important boost to trade and business relations between the two economies.
